We were going to eat at La Fondue, but discovered that the Wine Cellar does fondue too. WOW! We had the cheese fondue for hors d'oeuvres, a salad (can't remember which one, but it had apples and pears in it with a wonderfully light dressing), shared fabulous ribs, and then had the chocolate fondue for dessert. Will definitely go back. ...

Best kept secret in LG

Good food, good service. The short ribs are great, and seem to have spawned the addition of them to the menu of several restaurants in town. I've never had a bad experience here.

Love the Wine Cellar
By BillTheCat, 08/24/06
I've been going there for over 10 years. I don't know the details of the old and new Wine Cellar, but the food became higher quality since they remodeled and reopened. All the food we have tried is really good, and the atmosphere is great! Everyone loves their underground atmosphere, and I usually want to get a booth against the back wall when I go with friends.

Unfortunate

I traveled to the Wine Cellar for a birthday celebration earlier this month.
We had a large party, and upon arrival, the organizer informed the hostess that we had one more to add to the reservation. The hostess did not know how to address this, and proceeded to cause a scene, saying such things as "...it's a huge inconvenience when ...
The Old Town Wine Cellar is certainly one of my favorite places to eat in Los Gatos. The service is usually very good and the food typically matches this. It can become busy during peak times (like most places), but the service rarely suffers. The Cheddar and Ale fondue is good, and the New York Steak is very good indeed.

A nice change of pace

This is a nice restaurant with some unique appeal giving you the sense of being in a cellar while also providing some of the best outdoor seating available in Los Gatos. The food is good though priced as you expect from a nice restaurant. Make reservations and arrive early to hang out in the bar.

Our first trip to the Wine Cellar was a surprise birthday dinner, and we've kept going back since. If dessert is your thing, you will love the chocolate fondue (and no, you don't need to order it early - we asked the first time we went and they said they get that question every night, but they'll tell you if for some reason they're ...

Excellent Place to Eat
By Tom, 09/02/05
I've been there three times, and always dinned outdoors. It's very comfortable. The food is just excellent. I like the double shrimp salad. My favorite entree is the Short Ribs, which is sort of a "permanent special". The Ahi salad plate is quite impressive also. They have a good wine selection, and make a mean ...
I had my office (party of 12)Holiday party there this last season. What a mistake. With several months advance notice, we were placed at a table that was a bit too cramped, and the food was mediocre. But the kicker was this: I brought 6 bottles of wine valued at over $100 dollars each for our special occasion. I told the waiter that we will be ...
