    We stayed 7 nights at the Carlsbad Hampton Inn just west of Legoland. We had a wonderful vacation. The town has a public beach with restrooms, showers, and drinking water just north of the Palomar Airport Road (where the hotel and Legoland are located).     The staff were very helpful, but dispassionate. We needed more info on the goings on around Carlsbad. It is valuable to stop in and see what's happening, though.
