Great fun for my kids and for me. We explored the ship the star of India- a historical landmark and learned about steam yachts. The kids loved exploring the inside of the ship. I'm glad I tried this museum out, I had my doubts but it was included with my Go San Diego Card so I went ahead and checked it out. Great attraction. Plenty to do. I'd allow about an hour and a half for your visit.
to say there is history here to view is putting it lightly. the exhibits are amazing for those of any age group. a deffinite must for first timers and those with younger kids!!!
we recently visited the maritime museum and it was absolutely awesome! there are about 4 places right in a row to tour and all are really cool. star of india, russian sub, maritime museum, uss midway. all were really interesting and not expensive. way cool. i would do it again. parking was easy.
it was very interesting the first time we seen these ships. they have alot of history and it is interesting to see the insides of the old ships. once you've seen them though there is no reason to see them again. once is enough. i would recommend the tour for first timers.
although interesting, the museum is a combined exhibit of 7 or 8 ships of varying vintage. One was used in filming Master and Commander. To see all of the ships interior, some climbing is required. It's a neat little hour or two for $8 per person (adult). The nicest part is just being on the waterfront.
