If you want good advice with no BS, no pressured sales, experienced knowledge...then look no further than this place. Consider this place the bicycle shop equivalent of the record shop in HIGH FIDELITY. You'll be better off for it if you buy a bike or have one serviced by Chuck, the owner. From novice to pro you won't go wrong here.
Pacific Coast Bicycles in Oceanside, CA is the place to go when you want a reputable store. I bought a very nice used bike from Chuck Hoefer, the owner. He checked the bike out before I took off with it and made sure that it was right for me. And the price was right, maybe a little bit more than I wanted to spend for a used bike, but I've ...

The Best Owner/Operated Shop
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/08
Chuck Hoefer is probably one of the best and most knowledgeable bike mechanics in the US. If you need repair service, this is the shop to go to. The shop specializes in new and old technology bikes. You won’t find rows of new bikes like some high volume stores but they have a good selection and if they don’t have it they can get it. ...

Life Long Service

I have been going to this shop for about the last 20 years. Always friendly, very knowlegable, and we share the same name. You might be able to get it cheaper, but not with the same amount of help.

Do you want my business?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/07
Like the previous poster, "Chuck" pretty much gave me the impression that I was invading his space. I got no smile or hello, and had to go out of my way to get his attention even though there were no other customers in the store and he was casually working a bike. I came to ask him about a specific bike, and told him he was listed as a ...

Horrendous Service, unfortunately
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/13/07
I must have caught "Chuck" on a bad day. The guy couldn't care less that I was in the store, and absolutely could not be bothered to help me. Alan's Family Bike Shop right down the highway was far, far more helpful and didn't make me feel like I was a huge intrusion.
"Chuck" must be doing very well to be able to turn away customers!

classy old school

this isn't italy here in So Cal, but inside this shop might just take you over the waters to how a bike shop used to be, before the homogenization of the american-style shellaced Starbucks cults. I felt like the kid I was in the 70-80's, just begininig to find out about a larger world out there beyond the mid-west cornfields and monotonous ...
This is my favorite bike shop around. Chuck knows all about bikes and can help you with almost any repair. Although the shop doesnt have huge inventory, he probably has what you need, including lots of bikes that you wouldnt find at a larger bike shop.
I gave him a high value even though his prices are more than what you would pay online because ...

owner-operated shop has many advantages and great bikes
I like the owner/mechanic Chuck, he is very knowledgable and helpful. In addition to being very knowledgable, Chuck provides services most other shops will not or can not: custome wheel builds, frame alignment, welding.
Although the bike selection is not as impressive as the chain stores, he has or can get you anything you need. This includes ...
