Learning, touching, seeing, alittle of everything that the whole family can do. Everyone can learn about space. Look up into the stars and night. Most especially you can see the city of Los Angeles in the bright blue skys over head

Since I quite enjoy being in Los Angeles, and I love the stars, this was a great place to visit (when it was still in operation.) its suppose to be up and running again soon. If you like really great city views, its a great place when the sky is clear.

  • Universal appeal
    By wageefunding111, 10/01/05
For many years I've enjoyed not only the short but exhilarating drive up the hill; but the destination and grounds themselves. I've witnessed planets, stars, comets, light shows, and have touched the wonder of the universe as my face met the eyepiece of the giant telescope.
The observatory,I have seen, is somewhat of a social institution ...

  • Frustrating, events not coordinated
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 01/05/07
You need reservations to catch a shuttle that takes you to the Observatory. The gal on the line could not clearly explain the differences in the shuttle pick up points. We selected the Zoo entrance. The shuttle ride from the zoo parking lot to the Observatory turned out to be 20 minutes. Then, at the Observatory, I stood in line at the ...

  • Great Place---Not For The Observatory
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/30/05
It was alright, there was an observatory and some displays--most of which were for elementary school kids and scouts. Great place for a moonlight picnic though, one of the few places you can see the stars in LA through the lights and smog. YAY GRIFFITH!!

The site/view is fanastic, including the ride up to the observatory! The displays are great for anyone only mildly interested in the real "stars".
When using the Observatory web site, be aware that it is not current. We used it to make the 48 hr reservations, print tickets, get directions, only to find upon arrival at Kodak Theatre that ...

  • Such a wonderful place, such a terrible service!
    By Nazbanoo N, 12/30/06
Griffith observatory is absolutely amazing. The view is miraculously beautiful and utterly stunning. However, the quality of service is unbelievably poor: you cannot reserve tickets for the planetarium and after about one hour standing in the line at 3:00 pm they will tell you tickets are sold out for the next three rounds and you have to wait ...

  • Great View and Inexpensive
    By philhngo, 10/16/07
Was there with my girlfriend, best view on the LA area. Very cheap and inexpensive place to take a date.

Everything was free aside from the show. They even have an onsite cafe which is on the pricy side but if you bring your on snacks your all set.

Show are $7.00 and $5.00 if your a student with ID.

Great place to spend the evening! I'd recommend it.
