You could just sit at home and look up pictures of celestial bodies on the web, but wouldn't you rather see them for yourself? The Griffith Observatory really is an interesting experience. When you peer through the telescope, you actually are seeing something that may not have been seen like this ever before, or ever again. I used to love this ...
Griffith Observatory is a great place to go and be a part of something bigger (like the universe). Located in Griffith park, you get to see one of the most beautiful spots in the Los Angeles area, and then check out what's going on directly above... it's a no-lose scenario!

To see the LA skyline. Breathtaking views of the city on a clear night. During the day, you can get some quality pictures of the Hollywood sign (again, on a clear day).
For many years I've enjoyed not only the short but exhilarating drive up the hill; but the destination and grounds themselves. I've witnessed planets, stars, comets, light shows, and have touched the wonder of the universe as my face met the eyepiece of the giant telescope. Nice drive up the hills and then a nice scenic view, overlooking the city. Give it a try; it is a visit you should not miss.

Learning, touching, seeing, alittle of everything that the whole family can do. Everyone can learn about space. Look up into the stars and night. Most especially you can see the city of Los Angeles in the bright blue skys over head
It's awesome thing to look outside ones own world into the universe where discovery is a daily occurence. The Observatory gives us a glimpse of realization of how very small we really are. A terrific stop on your visit list!
it's has good atmosphere, good for an adventure, hiking trip where friends and family can stay and share some wonderful moments together particularly at nightime.
The location and view is great, if it's not an overcast or smoggy day. One thing is that it gets crowded... lots of couples doing their thing along the perimiter. I don't go as often as I used to.
