It was alright, there was an observatory and some displays--most of which were for elementary school kids and scouts. Great place for a moonlight picnic though, one of the few places you can see the stars in LA through the lights and smog. YAY GRIFFITH!!

Was fun back then, will be fun when finished

Currently under construction as of Oct 5, 2005. The Griffith Observatory is a fun and educational experience. You've got to to the Planetarium. The views from the lookout deck and roof are great. There's also an entrance to the Griffith Park hiking trails nearby. If you're the adventurous type, take the trail to the Hollywood sign!

It is a very learning location, fun, great view, had lazer shows, feet away from a great trail leading to the HOLLYWOOD sign.
A nice restaurant would be nice there at the old lunch hamburger joint.

My Down Time Was an Upper

I really loved the Observatory. This is where I went to be alone and just look at the stars. It was an amazing place and I wish I was there now. I also wish I could have taken my children, they probably would have loved it. It was on top of a large hill and it made me feel as if I was on top of the world. I was Queen of the Universe and no one ...

You could just sit at home and look up pictures of celestial bodies on the web, but wouldn't you rather see them for yourself? The Griffith Observatory really is an interesting experience. When you peer through the telescope, you actually are seeing something that may not have been seen like this ever before, or ever again. I used to love this ...

See the stars!

Griffith Observatory is a great place to go and be a part of something bigger (like the universe). Located in Griffith park, you get to see one of the most beautiful spots in the Los Angeles area, and then check out what's going on directly above... it's a no-lose scenario!

To see the LA skyline. Breathtaking views of the city on a clear night. During the day, you can get some quality pictures of the Hollywood sign (again, on a clear day).

Universal appeal

For many years I've enjoyed not only the short but exhilarating drive up the hill; but the destination and grounds themselves. I've witnessed planets, stars, comets, light shows, and have touched the wonder of the universe as my face met the eyepiece of the giant telescope. The observatory,I have seen, is somewhat of a social institution ...
