The Griffith Observatory is a spectacular place, filled with amazing exhibits! It's understandable that some people are frustrated, but with a little patience and some good planning, you can have a wonderful visit! Here's the 10 best tips for your trip:
(1) GO ON A WEEKDAY. It's very busy on Sat and Sun, shows sell out, and tons of ...
I Love It. Perfect to visit in all year round. We like the planetary system that they have inside. And after you finish visiting that observatory you can drive around the park, go to the golf cource that it is next to it, or if you have children you can take down to ride the ponies and next to the ponies is a small train that you can ride too.

Field trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/07
I didn't like it, I loved it very much. And I'm planning to come back asap. I went only once in 1984 for an eighth grade class field trip and ever since then I've wanted to come back and am in the process of making those plans as I type this. So yes I'm an antique lol but I really loved it there and can't wait to return.

shuttle ride was crowded
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/29/07
I did enjoy going to the Observatory but the shuttle ride was crowded. People were standing up and the ride was bumpy. I had a great time but expected a little more from the renovations.

Bus was dodgy, but worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/07
The city bus (which I didn't think that LA had a great metro, but it was abolutely just fine, and cheaper than renting a car) was a bit scary, but the observatory was great.
It was a bit surreal, being in LA and the history behind the place (ghosts and old tales) but very fun, ,very cool, and I'm glad that the people at the hotel (the Vibe) mentioned it. :)

The site/view is fanastic, including the ride up to the observatory! The displays are great for anyone only mildly interested in the real "stars". When using the Observatory web site, be aware that it is not current. We used it to make the 48 hr reservations, print tickets, get directions, only to find upon arrival at Kodak Theatre that ...

Frustrating, events not coordinated

You need reservations to catch a shuttle that takes you to the Observatory. The gal on the line could not clearly explain the differences in the shuttle pick up points. We selected the Zoo entrance. The shuttle ride from the zoo parking lot to the Observatory turned out to be 20 minutes. Then, at the Observatory, I stood in line at the ...
Griffith observatory is absolutely amazing. The view is miraculously beautiful and utterly stunning. However, the quality of service is unbelievably poor: you cannot reserve tickets for the planetarium and after about one hour standing in the line at 3:00 pm they will tell you tickets are sold out for the next three rounds and you have to wait ...
