Things have changed somewhat over the years but if you haven't been there you should visit and people watch. The fruit smoothies are great. I do agree that it is expensive but it's still a family favorite tradition. I will be visiting again in July 2009!

At the time it was so far away. Just to be out with the class on a class trip made this the trip of a life time. I cant wait to take my kids there this summer.

A Heartbreak Roller-Coaster Ride

I wanted to take the opportunity, to give my impressions, of an old landmark restaurant, on Olvera Street. The name of the restaurant is "Las Golondrinas". For years, I had many lovely experiences. A Grande time was had by All!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/10/07
We had so much fun here looking at the shops, buying completely affordable souveniers and enjoying a great lunch. Will definitely come back here on our next trip to LA! Don't miss it!
whenever i'm in los angeles, the one place that makes me feel at home is olvera street. the chicano population is heavy, and the food, though not authentic is close enough (where else outside of texas can i get a fruit cup that includes jicama?)
it's definitely worth your time, and fairly inexpensive compared to other areas of lalaland. be prepared to just sit down and soak in the atmosphere.

There's no other place in L.A. where you can view historical sites reflecting the city's mexican heritage, enjoy inexpensive mexican food, and browse through a wide selection of authentic mexican arts and ...
