I love the food here, the music, the colorful dresses and bangles.... What's not to love for those who want to experience the cultural beauty of S. California's past and present cultural influence.

If you are looking for a palce to visit with the kids or a fun night out on the town, this is a great place to visit.

As for folks who are ...

  • Growing up om Olvera
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/05
Living in Los Angeles you grow up with the sense that you are always part Latin. Between the venders burittos and the bits of Spanish you actually understand, you feel as if this street is a little part of Mexico. The historic values and culutral customs make Olvera Street a must see for the city of Los angeles.

  • We never get tired of it.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/05
When I was young, in the 1940s) a trip to Olvera Steet was an adventure because we lived in Pasadena. When my children were young it was the same experience and now that I have grandchildren it is the same for them.

Our family loves the small shops and the restaurants.
There are always the native singers wondering through the streets adding to ...

  • Tons of culture
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
An excellent place to go to learn about mexican culture. The art exhibits are very authentic displaying art by Frida Kahlo and many other mexican artists. The restaurants are very authentic but don't order a margarita unless you are not the driver, they can be pretty strong. A great place to go for Cinco De Mayo.

Less crowded on the weekdays. The food is awesome and lots of history at Olvera Street. It's worth the time and money. Bring your walking shoes.
