Amazing view! We went as the sun started to set. It was absolutely beautiful. This is something the whole family can enjoy to just a couple. It is completely worth your time and the short drive. The only money you spend is the money needed to put in the gas tank and the drive is not bad. You will not spend much gas. A must see!

We drove Gates Pass to go to the Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum. I enjoyed the drive as much as either of those places. I wanted to take pictures of every inch of the landscape, it was so beautiful! This is a free and a wonderful experience!
This is the premiere spot around Tucson to watch the sun settle into the most beautiful sunset in Arizona. Located on the far western edge of metro Tucson, Gates Pass offers one of the most beautiful sunset experiences in all of Arizona. Come see why the state flag is modeled after this most beautiful, natural daily occurence. It's free and open to everyone!

One of my most favorite places in the world. A wonderful place to watch a sunset or to view the storms passing through during the rainy season. You should not visit Tucson without this experience.

Looking for a peaceful moment?

The sunset at Gates Pass was as close to being spiritual as any other event. The colors, the silence, the reverence felt at this location is something that shouldn't be missed while in Tucson. Incredible! Absolutely gorgeous! Sit back on a rock, hike up the mountain, go alone or with someone special. You will surely feel a calm that you want to carry with you each day. i can't wait to return!
The sunsets are dramatic and beautiful at Gates Pass. For the 10 years I lived in Tucson, I would say that 4 nights out of 7 we would go and watch the sun set. Amazing isn't the word to describe it. The hill top itself is hikable, there's grills and ramada's if you want to just hang and lay back. Again, great spiritual power there and a must when visiting Tucson.
