The Desert Museum was such a wonderful experience for my daughter, grandson and myself. It has everything a zoo, museum and park has to offer all in one place. I will be spending my winters in Tucson and I can't wait to use my guest passes to show my Northeast Ohio friends and family what a fantastic experience the museum is.
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is one of the best places to visit in Tucson. My favorite time to go is the Saturday evening events they have during the summer. The animals which have hibernated all day come out, and you can see snakes, wolves, bears, all kinds of desert wildlife. Make sure to visit the Butterfly Exhibit and the Hummingbird Sanctuary. Both are awesome!

Super place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/07
We just went in June and it was very hot. There are many places to get a drink along the paths and places to cool off. It is good for children and adults. It has a gift shop and restaurant. Several toilets along the way that have sunscreen available in case you forgot yours. There is a lot to see and would be worth going several times so you could ...
I love the Desert Museum. I had been there many times 20 or so years ago when I lived in the area. I still live in Arizona but up north. I had freinds coming from Kentucky and put this on my list of 'must-see' attractions. We spent most of the day there. They were surprised at the many, varying types of cactus we have here in Arizona. They ...

We go to Tucson to visit every year and go to the Desert Museum every year as well. The hummingbird aviary is wonderful. We love walking around the grounds.

Captivating and Informative
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/26/07
This was probably the best set up and most informative stop we have made in our cross country excursion. The docents were all kind, patient and helpful. This experience was worth the price of admission. I wore sun screen but wish I had worn a hat and carried water with me. There were plenty of water fountains, but I definately got thirsty. The ...

A Desert-Specific Zoo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/07
I really enjoyed my visit to the Sonora Desert Museum. Although, I think the term 'zoo' would be more appropriate than museum. They had a variety of animals native to the Sonoran desert, along with a very interesting assortment of cacti and other desert plants. I seem to remember it being sort of expensive though for the amount of time I spent there (about 2-3 hours). Be sure to take sunscreen because much of the museum is outdoors.
The Desert Museum is interesting and very educational for those who are not familiar with the Sonora Desert and also for those who are. It is more like a museum/zoo as all the wildlife is live and in very natural enclosures. Seeing it is a must when you visit Tucson. The staff members are knowledgable and very friendly. Most of them are volunteering their time.
My boyfriend and I went to this museum and we had a blast. The volunteer was very helpful and I left wanting to learn so much more about Saguaro Cacti. We watched a film but the actual scenery was simply breathtaking.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/07
It is a natural history museum where most of the animal and flora exibits are live and live in reasonably natural settings. I suspect that this museum probably never had any large budgets/grants. Nevertheless, their accomplishments, in my opinion, are great. Tucson gets hot in the summer, frequently exceeding 100 degrees farenheit during the ...
