  • Not to be missed
    By CATHY, 05/06/09
As a first time visitor to Tucson, I found this "museum" fairly easy to get to, a good value for the entry fee. You must not forget sunscreen and a hat. Much of the hike is without tree cover. The map was easy to follow. You could spend a whole day viewing each exhibit. My favorite was the cactus garden. When I return to Tucson I will make another visit to this wonderful place.

  • Great Trip
    By EmilyS, 02/24/09
Although it's a little pricey at $13 per adult, this is a pleasant place to spend beautiful Tucson winter days. At only $50, it's worth it to get the family membership. I like the desert garden and the new rock dweller exhibit. It's a lot of fun for kids, and a beautiful drive from Tucson.

  • Great experience
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/08
The layout was unique and beautiful. You didn't feel like you were in a zoo setting. I loved how the scorpions and spiders were in the wall, under fake rocks. This is a great place for families and adults. The docents were very polite and informative. I would love to go back!

  • well worth the trip!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/08
this was my first visit to the museum/zoo. Wow! What a place. The aviery is the best I have ever been in. We spent about 1/2 hr. just sitting and listening to all the birds. The cat canyon was excellent and a nice place to cool off. My son loved the cave. We will visit this whenever we make it to Tucson.

    By James, 03/11/08
I love the desert museum so much that I became a member even though I live on the East Coast! It is a wonderful place to see all the wildlife that is in the Sonoran Desert. I am always amazed at the animals and how visible they are. It is a must see for any visitors to the Tucson area.

  • I'm goin' back in December 2008
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/29/08
The open spaces make a scooter necessary for me. It was an amazing experience for a city kid from the Midwest, who has only seen cactus at the Conservatory Garden! Who knew these animals were all out there? I'm excited about seeing more of it, so we're going to drive this time!

  • Hoghly Recommend this one!
    By debbie, 02/09/08
I live in Tucson, and alway recommend this place!
If you don't see ANYTHING else in Tucson and want to
learn something, see the Desert Museum. Bring a hat, and a bottle of water though (the gift shop also sell them) To save money, the Visitors and Convention Bureau sells a book that will save you money while in Tucson area. No I don't work for them, but it is a great deal. Have fun!

  • Not a regular museum
    By Vickie M, 02/09/08
This is more like a small desert zoo than typical museum. It's basically a piece of the desert fenced off, but many of the animals come and go through the fence. The big cats are all in enclosures, but coyotes, javelinas, and other smaller animals roam freely. Go first thing in the morning, and you'll see more animals, and more activity. ...

  • THis place is a national treasure
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/31/08
I loved the way that the animals and environment come first, and the incredible care and thought that obviously went into developing the museum. We spent about 3 hours there, but I easily could have spent the whole day. I would love to come back one day.

The indoor exhibitions were excellent, very informative, and well laid out.
