This was a very boring place to visit. Yes, I know it is a Mission, not an amusement park or anything like that. Once you get there it's about a five minute tour and then you leave. There's nothing there. We took some pictures, looked at the building and that was it. We almost. I had to try the Indian flat bread that was widely ...

A treat

Because they are restoring the mission, it was not a great time to get pictures of the church. I ended up buying postcards instead. The church is absolutely breathtaking, and the museum was fascinating. I can't believe that it is free!!! The grotto area was very moving, and I wished there had been more candles to light, but they were all ...
Just absolutly loverly and set in wonderful desert surroundings, inside the mission is a museum and a quaint little gift shop, also beautiful coutyard where you can sit and just relect a little
I live in Tucson, and if you enjoy history and churches this is the place to go. Along with Saguaro Monument East, Desert Museum, and possibly the expensive and crowded Sabino Canyon I would visit here. It is an ACTIVE church so please be respectful. You can attend Mass there also. They sell the BEST indian fry bread w/ honey. Worth the calories. No, I don't work there!
we go to the misson everytime we visit our relatives. we never grow tired of our visit to the mission. we light candles and pray for our loved ones. we visit the gift shop. we also love to eat the indian fry bread with red chile.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/08
The atmosphere is great, the church is amazing, i will take your breath away. No cost what so ever to visit and see the beauty. donations are ask for to finish the reconstruction but nothing is forced on you. The loation is great, nature at its best. GO SEE it!
The Mission was under construction when we visited this month (Sept 2007). So photographic opportunities were minimal. Otherwise, the church is beautiful inside! Worth a visit.

Not a Museum or Tourist Site
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/07
San Xavier del Bac is an active parish, not a Tourist site or a Museum. If you go, please be courteous and respectful of that fact. Dress appropriately and act as you would in your own house of worship. Too many times when I have visited this church I have witnessed tourists acting inappropriately and dressed as if they were going to a party. ...

Looking forward to visiting again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/07
I really liked this place, it's so beautiful!!! I lived in Tucson for about 3 years and enjoyed visiting the Mission while there. Any time out of state guest came to visit this was a must. Before moving away and going through a divorce, I found it calming to go there and think about things. It really helped me. I plan on visiting the area again and the Mission is on my list to see again. I can't wait.

Lovely

This was a beautiful place. I'd love to go back. I went in April so the temps were not to hot. May not be interesting for children under 12. Nice gift shop where I bought a rosary.
