We had a very bad experience at this place. We had ordered three sodas and we're given refills only to find that they charge for them, which is fine but there was nothing that stated they charged for refills and the server never mentioned it. We would've been more than happy to pay for the refills if someone had either told us or if it was ...

Excellent service/Average Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/07
The Salt Cellar was an average experience. First, it's freezing in there so dress warmly. The decor looks like it hasn't been changed since the 70's and like it originally came from a yard sale. The wine prices were reasonable. The food was okay, nothing special. Kevin was an excellent server and made the whole experience much better. Overall, not worth the money.

Is There an Ocean in Arizona?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/07
This place rocks! Just the fact that it is a former "Speak-Easy" is enough to warrant my 5Star ambiance vote. The food is amzaing, though! I went there while on a golf bender with a client and we arrived about an hour before our reservation. We sat a the bar and powered back mussles, oysters, escargot, and martinis. Not a bad way to ...

Poor on all counts
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
With prices for the “best in Arizona” seafood at this subterranean hideaway pushing 35 dollars, a diner expects something more than turnpike quality food served in a cramped dining room by indifferent staff. Sorry, but that was the final result, and we are never, ever going back.
The experience starts with the hike down poorly ...

Oh My God!

The food is delicious! Even the lobster and I'm not a big fan of lobster! Nice atmosphere, ie, no screaming kids around... The Shrimp San Remo is to die for! Would love to get back there someday!

major disapointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/06
made dinner reservations a week in advance and the table we sat at was in the door way to the bar. It was alittle cramped for 4 people.I had heard nothing but good about this place but i have to say for the price the food and service were horrible. The baked potatoes were cold and the lobster was no better than red lobster, not to mention that ...

very disappointing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/06
The service was terrible and the food was even worse. I would never go back! The shrimp smelled and tasted like amonia and the steak was quite bad. Not impressed with the mussel's as an appetizer. Just very shocked because I've heard nothing but great things about the place.

Salt Cellar is not easy for the unknowing to find. Even though it is tucked away, underground, you find a treasure of ambiance, making you feel as though you are in one of the finest eating establishments of your life. The servers are friendly and very helpful as to what is at the top of the current list of favorites. Even though seafood is ...
