South Mountain Parks provides a beautiful view of the valley for absolutely no cost. The drive up to the park is breathtaking, also. It gives you an opportunity to see the mountains up close without having to go on a long drive. Highly recommended!

Relaxing trip, very nice view of the valley in the summer when the smog isn't as bad. I don't recommend going on high pollution days as you really can't see that far in the valley.

South Mountain is a great place to get the feel of the open desert without going too far from the city. The views are spectacular and it's quite unspoiled, despite all the visitors - hikers and mountain bikers, can't believe they bike these trails!

South Mountain has a unique beauty. We drove up Summit Drive and hiked for several miles on the National Trail, I think. Huge cactuses, little lizards, hummingbirds, and desert rats make the scenery interesting.

South Mtn is the perfect place to go whether you want to go for an early afternoon hike or a scenic drive after dinner. It's fun to drive up the winding road that leads to one of the best panoramic views of Phoenix. It has miles of trails to hike as well. One of the best places to visit.

I loved taking my boys out at nite to Dobbins Lookout to hike down trails and catch millipedes, see geckos and rattlesnakes, etc. The drive early inthe AM is beautiful and cool in the summer if done before 0900. I miss it now that I live back in Nevada.
