Every 50 feet a new view of the canyon. WOW. We were pleased to have such a trail so well maintained. We hiked to Hermit's Rest in an afternoon and stopped numorously to take photos. On our second day we hiked the Rim Trail to the Kabaib Trail. Conveniently there is a bus that can return you to your lodge if you do not feel like hiking back. We took advantage of it.
We had no dislikes about Rim Trail.It was absolutely grand. A view that can't be described in words or pictures. Be sure to drink plenty of water, wear comfortable walking shoes,(one lady we noticed wore heels, not recommended)and be ready to do a lot of walking. Awesome south rim walking path

The south rim Grand Canyon walking path I walked for 3 hours runs in front of the historic lodges and east for a few miles. There is bench here and there to rest and take in scenery. Take bottled water in a fanny pack. Around every bend in path are priceless photo opportunities...this paved path is several feet wide..in places runs only inches ...
