If you go, see the falls, then leave....The locals are miserable, the village is filthy, and the only thing that ever cleaned the campgrounds is the recent flood that ripped through and "rebeautified" the place......Scraggly dogs roam free everywhere, several local nutcase whacko locals annoy visitors to the village, and the filthy ...
This is an amazing area that gets busier each year. There is a supposed 150 person limit on how many people can be in canyon each day. But with recent use of the canyon by non local commercial guiding companies this area easily has over 300 people per day. The most unfortunate thing about these services is that they do not employ any locals or ...

Run Away to a Canyon Rim Run by U.S. Park Services
The Hualapia Tribe that runs the West Rim clearly doesn't funnel the canyon income into the tired, run-down ticketing portable, the depressing, rip-off gift shop or the gravelly, unpaved, unkempt grounds at their staging area that sports nothing but a parking lot of helicopters and victim's cars. It's $20 just to park, folks, and that ...

only 1 reason to go there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/05
The only reason to go there is if you are hiking down to Supai or Havasu Falls, etc. The hike is an outstanding experience. If you are not hiking, DO NOT GO THERE.

Trailhead to Havasu Falls
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/04
This parking lot on the south rim of the Grand Canyon gets you to the trail to incredibly beautiful Havasu Falls and Mooney Falls, which lie on the Havasupai Indian Reservation. An 8 mile hike through first, dry desert and then a riparian canyon takes you to Supai, a modernish Indian village. 1.5-2 miles more gets you to a campground between ...
