  • Pretty View, Pretty drive
    By Heather, 09/15/06
Take the Old Highway for a very scenic drive out to the Marsh. I enjoyed the ride as much as I enjoyed the destination.

The marsh is definitely a beautiful example of the marshland all around the Anchorage area. Lots of birds and plantlife to check out.

  • Quick and dirty birdwatching
Potter's Marsh is immediately adjacent to the Alaska Highway, so expect the roar of Semi's, RVs, and even the Alaska Railway.

But that does not faze the birds. If you are a birder, you'll get some good ones to check off your list: Arctic Tern, Bald Eagle, and scores of shorebirds inhabit this expansive marsh.

Boardwalks make it for easy viewing
