  • Stale Cake
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/07
Dry, stale cake seems to have become the norm at Savage's. Such a shame. Pastries are still good there, but it is definitely not worth the expense and effort of dealing with an indifferent staff.

I refuse to go to SAvages anymore because the staff is so rude. Customer service is defintiely not a priority with them. Cakes are ok but I've had better

  • Definite decline!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/07
We have always LOVED Savage's and used them for every event. Naturally we ordered my son's first birthday cake from there. The cake was DELICIOUS but very very ugly and they even messed up the lettering and wrote "Happy Birthday Turtle" on it. It was so embarassing. I ended up scraping the whole thing off. Also, they had ...

  • the best baked goods in the world, bad service, but still worth it!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/07
I crave the petit-fours and everytime I go to B'ham to visit family. I am there. Sometimes a few times during the visit. The brownies and petit-fours are untouchable. I live all the way in Arizona and I wish I could go right now! It is worth the flight:)

  • Worth the Drive
    By Kay, 01/11/07
I love Savages! I drive up to Birmingham from Auburn at least twice a year to get cakes because they are so wonderful and the people are so great. I definetly would recommend visiting them this time a year for their delicious mardi gras style king cakes.

  • excellent pastries
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/06
I've been enjoying Savage's pastries for three decades and there are very few places anywhere, B'ham or outside, that compare in the way of taste and quality. I hope they stay open forever.

  • Best Cakes Around!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/06
I've bought birthday cakes at Savage's for many years and I've NEVER had a bad experience.

I've brought my own 'characters' for the folks at Savage's to use on the cakes. One year, I brought them a small Snoopy dog house and Snoopy, and asked them to add a bunch of orange pumpkins. The result was perfect! The cake ...

  • Overrated!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/06
The staff at Savages is rude and unprofessional. Because of all the hype about Savages, I expected it to taste really good. It was average at best. There are much better bakeries in B'ham with a much friendlier atmosphere.

  • Best Cinnamon rolls on the Planet
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/06
I have been going there for 25 years for their Old Fashion Cinnamon rolls. They are the best! And my wife loves their Butterflake rolls. And the sugar cookies aren't bad either!
