We stayed at Gaviota Vallarta Hotel, which is right in front of playa de los muertos. At 5 am, you can hear the waves; it just feels so peacefull!!

Puerto Vallarta doesn't boast the most beautiful beaches, but this is definitely a fun one to visit. It's packed with a mix of locals and tourists along with piles of vendors selling you everything imaginable. The beach is lined with bars and cafes which are really cheap. We got 3 beers for $5! We didn't swim because the water was freezing, but definitely a fun place to hangout for a few hours.
