This is a great place to eat and to enjoy the surroundings while visiting the old town of Puerto Vallarta. I had the seafood soup and it was excellent.

Best value in PV

We went to a different popular restaurant every night of our week-long trip, and this ended up being our favorite.
The food is very good, especially for the price. Enchiladas or quesadillas with your choice of meat are 70 pesos compared to 120 to 160 we paid at other, similar tourist-centric restaurants for the same quality. One night I had the ...
With the lines always waiting to get into this place, and all the rave reviews, I had high expectations going in. They were not met.
My guidebook recommended the barbecue. Indeed, with meat cooking on the grill in front of the building, the smells of the barbecue are one of the immediate draws. However, when it arrived, the meat was all dried up ...

Noisy, but Fun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/08
We always eat at Cafe de Olla when we visit Puertor Vallarta - at least 2 or 3 times. It has a noisy restaurant, but that's part of the fun. The fun is delicious and fairly priced. Their menu changes frequently. We just got back from PV and unfortunately, Cafe de Olla was closed for low season.
Delicious seafood platter! Whole lobsters cooked outside on the grill. Service is not the best, but we eat here every year while on vacation. No lines during low season.

Great Mexican Food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/29/08
This is a traditional Mexican Food Place with great food for a good value, if you are looking for a really fancy place with a great service this might not be the place for you. On weekends the place gets very busy, food servers are friendly but don't have enough time to really cater to you.
The food and prices are very appealing but be warned that if you are a party of two you may stand for over an hour waiting to be seated. The restaurant is set up to accomodate parties of 4+. We joined up with another party of two to beat the system. There are many fine restaurants in the area that will not require such an unreasonable wait.

Like Authentic? This is the Place!

For our first visit, we came upon Cafe de Olla by chance. Some well-intended friends recommended "Pepe's". Our taxi driver mistook our request for "Mr. Pepe's", and when we arrived, Mr. Pepe's was closed, and we were unaware that we were at the wrong "Pepe's".
