Lacklustre DeliI went with a friend for a Saturday lunch. I was surprised to see a "threadbare" ambience with cracked vinyl coverings on the benches. My friend's potatoes and b'fast sausages were "not fresh" and my coleslaw looked transparent - like it had soaked up a lot of the condiments. My tuna salad was unremarkable - blah. ...0 of 1 Yahoo! Shopsy's on my mindI'm an American living in Southern California. I used to visit Toronto quite a bit in the mid to late 90's. It's a gorgeous city, but the one thing I miss the most is that Shopsy's experience. What an incredible restaurant. Everything you expect a Jewish deli to be, but with character to boot. A surprise for my wifeMy wife and I just got back to Powell River B.C. after a week in Toronto. We already miss SHOPSY'S!! GREAT CORNED BEEF ON RYEI hadn't been to Shopsy's for several years because I live and work in suburbia. Today I happened to be downtown and bought a Corned Beef on Rye to go. The beef was melt in your mouth soft and the bread was fresh. The portion was substantial but I could still have had another if I had more time. With taxes, the sandwich was about $6 CDN.
