Although we have known about this restaurant for 11 years, tonight was the first time we had been there. Our God Daughters had bought us a gift certificate for Christmas, and we took the plunge. Wow!! From the extensive wine list to the impressive and unusual menu, coupled with a terrific waiter (Ben), we had an extremely enjoyable dinner. ...

Incredible

A true 5 star restaurant. The food is prepared to perfection and the staff are professional and welcoming. I ate there for my 25th birthday and the fillet was one of the best I've had in recent memory. I wholeheartedly recommend Allegro's as the place to dine!! MJC.

Terrible terrible food :(
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/10/08
We were a group of 6 and had made reservations ahead of time-we arrived early, and yet were seated in the furthest corner table right beside the bathroom. The free appetizers were stale, oily and hard. The worst of all was the stale, chewy pizza that had to be cut with a steak knife and the tasteless portabello rizotto. The menu was confusing ...

Better than I was told
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 11/14/07
My friends have been telling me for years to go to Via Allegro. Finally made it last time I was in town. It was simply the best. From the decor to the food I was blown away. It was a huge menu with something for everyone including organic beef. Wines from $30.00 a bottle with 60 by the glass. I was driving so could only have a glass and it was ...

TOO SNOTY
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 11/06/07
Did not eat the entire day because I know was going out for my birthday dinner . The service took too long, waiter was not helpful, too forever to serve us, they were under-staffed, We also got up and left after having just water , food came not cooked and then you loose your desire to eat. Too pricey, too arrogant. I have dined in other places in ...

RJ review: Via Allegro - Golden Plate? 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/01/07
If you like tender, juicy steak...do NOT order the filet. Done in a pan and caremlized this was the second time that Via Allegro's cooks have over cooked a fine piece of meat for me. The texture was more like an over done second rate sirloin (ordered it Medium Rare) and at $48 per I expect more.
The peppercorn sauce is pretty good however ...

Bigger is not always Better!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/22/07
We just came from Allegro and all I can say is bigger is not always better. Everything about this restaurant is too big....the wine list, the menu, the room, the dinner plates....even the wine glasses are just big for the sake of being big! And of course the prices are way to big for what this restaurant delivers. Overall I found this restaurant came off as a tourist trap!

First and last visit
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 11/27/06
The only thing great about this restaurant is the ambiance and the service. The wine list is more like an entire catalogue and weighs at least 15 lbs. Do the management of this establishment really think that the average customer will find a wine in this massive listing that they can afford!!! The cheapest bottle is $65, and the wine by the glass ...
