First, Tojo's is not a bargain to go eat dinner at, but it's not meant to be. They have a reputation as the best in western if not all of Canada. When I went there the reputation did not fail. The 5 course Omakase was creatively designed and the flavours were excellent. This is the best Japanese restaurant I have dined in, if you can afford it then I strongly advise you to go and eat at Tojo's

Customer is never right.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/09
We sat down to eat and my children notice that there were fruit flies all around the table. In fact, a waiter came to our table to shoo them away. They brought the wrong food to the table and then insisted we pay for it. I asked to see a manager and was told that the manager would throw me out. The waiter, I believe his name was Aiji, said that ...
If you enjoy a condesending cook/chef and like to be told what you eat and don't care about what you have to pay for being insulted, this is the place for you! If you are looking for superb raw fish rather than candy-coated rice and vegetables this is the place to go.

Don't come hungry
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/09
It tasted like any other sushi place and it is four times the price. Fifty dollars for a bottle of saki thats the size of a glass of wine. Five out of six people ordered the Omakase and the other ordered halibut.....what they brought to all of us anyways. To make a long story short two people 240 dollars still hungry. (and extremely disappointed!)
We ignored all the comments we read online about bad service, but it really is awful.
We ordered the tasting menu, and my husband had to get up three times to the kitchen where our food was. The busser took our orders, delivered our food, and apologized profusely while the waiter joked around with the table next to ours. We complained to ...

premade sushi surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/07
My wife and I have always loved Tojos and went to visit on a weekend getaway from Seattle (we've even brought friends from SF there). We sat at the bar and ordered the Omakase (where the bar decides the sushi and more). Tojo was not there. We ate well but did not gorge (I was slightly disappointed because the Omakase was the exact same as ...

Tojo San completely owned me!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/07
I have gone to so many sushi resturants in the past. Over 32 I beleve. let me tell you that this is definetly the absolute best of all my voyages! Because of chef Tojo San, I have come back over 40 times to this enchanted resturant. The food is so tangy and delishious and the service is so happy and energetic that I wish everyday I could go to this ...
Me and my friends from NYC went to have dinner at Tojo's on Monday night. We got a table right away because the occupancy was really low. I ordered a sake for $18, and received a bad look from the waiter. We all ordered the $80 set dinner, and when the first dish came, the waiter dropped the dishes and left without explaining the ingredients of ...

Too expensive!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/07
Tojo's is a beautiful restaurant and the food is amazing BUT a spicy tuna roll was $18.00!! We were two couple we left having spent 200.00 and we were starving! The service was also terrible, similar to an all you can eat where you pratically have to bed people to serve you! Recommended only for the rich and famous. Vancouver has so many great sushi places that are reasonable in price and have great food and service.

What a gorgeous restaurant! And the food, absolutely amazing! Tojo is such a master. His new creations keep me going back. This restaurant has almost ruined me for going anywhere else! His tuna, tataki, baked oysters, specials.....yum yum yum!!!
