No complaints that the sushi is decent at Wa's, service is great, but I have to argue that it's not the best in Calgary. Try Hana Sushi on 17th avenue and 4th, very consistent with their sushi. It always looks fresh and tastes great.
Don't get me wrong Wa's is good, just not the best bang for your buck.

The best sushi in town!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/08
Wa's is by far the best place in town for sushi. Everything is splendid and always tastes so fresh. We never go anywhere else and we are never disappointed with the food there or the service. It is little gem in a big city.

Simply great sushi.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/15/08
Everything was wonderful. The standouts, for me, are the tempura and the salmon nigiri. The tempura is incredibly light, and the vegetables hold the perfect consitancy. The salmon nigiri is sliced perfectly, and the sashimi topping it melts in your mouth. my favourite Japanese restaurant in Calgary.

Best Place in Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/07
For the price and what is offered, it's definitely a place to stop by even if you're visiting Calgary. Compared to a lot of other Japanese restaurants, the price is significantly lower and the variety is top notch! Will continue to bring business their way!

Wa's is number one!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/08/07
I came across Wa's several years ago after moving to Calgary from Vancouver. I thought I would be deprived of fabulous sushi coming back to Alberta but I was wrong! Wa's is hands down my favourite sushi place ever, even in comparison to my spots in Vancouver. The food is always fresh, the service is excellent, and the California Rolls ...

I miss Wa's!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/07
I became a sushi lover years ago, and have been so many places in Calgary. As soon as I found Wa's, I stopped looking. It is by far the best sushi I've had in Calgary. Now I live in Saskatoon (a sushi-barren city) and I look forward to trips back to Calgary partially because I know I will get Wa's. Two good signs, as far as I'm ...

Best Sushi in Calgary
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/07
Being my wife grew up in Japan and will frequently have cravings for Sushi Wa's is the spot to go. We've tried probably every Japanese restaruant in town and the overall Sushi / value of Wa's is the best. However, when it comes to a 'Bento Box' or 'Miso Ramen' we do have another favorite.

Not worth the rave
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/24/07
I went there last Friday after reading all the great reviews. The sushi was good but nothing out of the ordinary, considering their prices are in the high end. I was most disappointed with their spicy tuna salad. At $7.00, I wasn't expecting much, maybe a few slices of tuna and some garnishes. Well, it turned out that it was really a tuna ...

The Only place I like Sushi
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/07
I Love Wa's. The Atmosphere is cozy and inviting, Great place for a date. the service is fantastic! the sushi is so fresh and well cut that I a non-sushi eater throughly enjoy it, This was actually the first place I ever had sushi, I thought I loved it then went to other places and was turned off. But going back to Wa's I enjoy it every time.
Worth every moment and dollar you spend here.

I am a Calgarian who lives in the UK, and everytime I stop back in Calgary Wa's is always at the top of the list of must do dining while I am in town.
