The Gondola was just a short walk from our Rimrock Hotel, which has a fantastic view. The view from the Gondola was even better. An absolutely unique site.

A must see experience while in Banff! We didn't hike up but the view was absolutely breathtaking. We also enjoyed the big horn sheep at the top!

WENT UP WITH MY 29 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON A "GIRLS THREE DAY GET-AWAY" AT THE BANFF SPRINGS. WE BOUGHT THE PHOTO OF US IN THE GONDOLS AT THE END OF THE RIDE AND I HAVE THAT TO BRING BACK ALL THE GOOD MEMORIES WHEN I LOOK AT IT.

Sulphur mountain has an excellent view of the surrounding area. It used to be my favorite place to take friends as we slogged our way to the top and took the Gondola down. However, I haven't gone up ever since they started charging money.
If you're really strapped for time and have money to burn, take the gondola. Otherwise, take the time to walk up/down and buy yourself a meal at the Magpie and Stump.

Fun but...

Its a bit expensive but the view at the top of Sulphur Mountain. If budget is an issue, I would recommend just driving to the top of Mount Norquay ( 5 min outside of banff) and checking out the view of the town and vermillion lakes from there.

Breath Taking!!

We went for our honeymoon in November, 2005. We loved it because it is considered off season and nobody was there. We had the place to ourselves and it was beautiful there. The layers of fresh snow and views of snow capped mountains were truly gorgeous!! The only thing we were disappointed about was there were no animals. We saw tons of animal ...

Bring money if you hike up and want to ride down!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/29/06
The hike up Sulphur Mountain was just right for my family (including a six year old). It can be done in about 2 hours if you're all in decent shape, but parts are quite steep and the trail is narrow at points. (I'm afraid of heights but somehow managed to do this hike. It was a bit dicey for me at times.) We went in May 2006, before the ...
I liked this even though I was a little afraid of the bears below and it was really hard finding one but I liked it.

suphur mountain trail
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/23/05
We hiked up this mountain in August of 05 and they were charging half price for a trip down until 6pm. I had heard from some individuals who live in the area that there is often no cashier there but on the day we went there was.
The hike up was great, a moderate climb for adults but our 6 year old had a tough time of it and our two year old ...
