An overall great experience. Just like to point out to one of the other reviewers that cabbage rolls do not exist in Greek cuisine, but what he is referring to are dolmathes which are grape leaves stuffed with rice...they're soggy by design.

I read another review that said that he had a bad meal. Well I've never had a bad meal at the Balkan and I've been going to this restaurant for over 5 years now. The veggie combo is great. Go here it rules!!!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/07
My wife and I visisted the Balkan this past spring and had a great time. We went on a "Greek night" which was recommended to us by a 'local'. It was definately worth it. Solid Greek cuisine as ridiculous entertainment. Looking for something to spice up your trip to Banff... this is it. The boys who took over this restaurant ...

Did the other reviewers eat at the same place?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/07
This was not only the worst Greek food I have ever had, it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. Over priced big time. I had the vegetarian combo because I wanted spanikopeta and teropitas. What I got looked like a Hot Pocket only with less filling. The veggies that came with it were mush. The cabbage rolls were slimey. I have eaten at many ...

We visited the Balkan on Greek Night and it was a complete gastronomic and entertaining treat. The Arni Psito (Roast Lamb) was incredibly tender and absolutely amazing. Can't wait to return.

A Greek Treat!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/05
We go every year with a group of 15 guys on our annual ski trip. Great food and service. Family owned and they use their own recipes. Calamari is best I've ever had. Lamb roast falls off the bone!!! Treat yourself on Greek night...breaking plates, belly dancers and lots of ouzo!

Greek in the Rockies? Of course
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/05
I came from Vancouver and had never eaten at the Balkan. It was reccommended by the front dest at the Fairmont Banff Springs. It was awesome. We went on the Greek night and had a great time! The owner Joanna made sure we were well taken care of. Good bellydancing, fun Zorba dancing. Make sure you get up and dance, they let you smash plates. Great Greek cuisine. Try the Lamb.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/05
I've been to Greek Restaurants all over Canada and this has been one of my top 5 for sure. We went on a Greek Night (Tuesdays I think)that was rambunctious and definately Greek. Bellydancing and Greek Dancing made it very memorable.
The service was great if only a little hectic when the dinner show was going on. Our server Silas was very ...
