The best thing to me was the dog cemetary. That's NOT a put-down, I simply admire people who place dogs in such high regard. For another bit of Hound History, check out Greyfriars Bobby, just down the Royal Mile. The castle is so wonderful I couldn't help but think this must have been one of my great-grandad's last memories as he left ...

However, the importance of the castle to the origin of the city of ...
Center of the city and a must-do stop for anyone in Edinburgh. I also recommend walking the Royal Mile down to the Palace.

The Crown Jewel of Scotland
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/23/04
This castle and all of its medieval splendor is worth the trip to Edinburgh alone. Be sure to box off about a half-day with a worthy guide to get the most from this fortress that has never fallen due to seige. (by treachery sure but not to seige.) St. Catherines chapel inside is a quaint landmark to the antiquity of the site. Well worth a visit.
