I have been to many other fairs and I have not had to pay $12 per person to get in. They did have a wide variety of food vendors, but the craft vendors were scarce; they were drown out by all the vendors trying to sell windows and vehicles and such. The carnival rides were also for the very young and there didn't look to be too many of them ...
