my visit to Stone Henge almost ten years ago was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had. The power of the stones and the place they rest is tangible- almost as though there is a current of energy cousing through the stones and the surrounding lands.
You've all seen pictures, so I'm not going to waste time discribing it. Stonehenge can only really be appreciated during the summer solstice, in the mornings. Enjoy the location and was you taken in its beauty, consider that the stones came from obver 200 miles away. Think about the tools available at the time, and then tell me the place is not amazing.
I had always imagined my first trip to Stonehenge to be magical, and for the most part it was. Try to get there early enough to watch the sun rise. And if you have the money, pay for a private tour. Haven't we seen enough of the countless stonehenge postcards to have to go and visit it aswell? It's not even that great 'in the flesh' so to speak. Maybe the history is interesting for some, but it's just a load of bloddy stones!
