El monasterio del Escorial is one of the most beautiful places I've seen here in Madrid, plus the view on the train is awesomely beatiful and the town is full of little streets with curious shops. Very convenient also because you can take the train at Atocha Station and in an hour you'll be there and the whole town can be seen in a day, so no need to stay. But staying it's also a great experience. Don't miss it

Very fun and pleasant surprise. Great little town, great big monistary, and a wonderful experience. Easy to get to from Madrid by train.
Don't forget to check out the nearby Valley of the Fallen. Another phenominal experience.
