One of the greatest private collections of are in the world. This is another must for anyone who likes art. It has representative masterpieces from the primatives all the way to the modern. Simply mind boggling. A great collection

A Great Collection
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/29/07
One of the best private collections in the world, now available for all to see. Most of the great artists of the past 150 years are represented, but many works (e.g., Hopper's "Hotel Room") were out on loan when we visited. Gift shop is expensive and the selection is kitschy. Nice outdoor cafe.

I was suprised at the quality of exhibits of this once private collection. Countless works of art, beautifully displayed. I can't to wait to go back!

Strategically located in the heart of the city, the size and distribution of the museum in a historical buiding are perfect for the comprehension of the exhibits. There are not only wonderful permanent collections, the temporary exhibitions I have attended have always delighted me.

A great collection
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 11/24/06

The Prado is huge, beautiful and has a great collection of classical Spanish art including many pieces by Diego Velazquez, Goya, and El Greco and allows photograpy. The Museo Sofia is more contemporary and had some great Picasso pieces and Joan Miro ...

Great museum
By herecomesthesun874, 09/30/05
This museum was great. I went to Three in Madrid and this was my favorite. It had a wonderful, diverse selection of pieces. The size of the museum was great, not too big, not too small. I can't remember the price but I don't recall thinking it was too expensive. It was definitely worth the time, and is something I would recommend if ...

Quiet Gem
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 02/21/05
This probably isn't the museum to see in Madrid if you only have time for one or two. You'd want to reserve that time for the masterworks at the Prado and modern works at the Reina Sofia. However, this museum is still a gem. You will find great works from artists like Dali, but this museum also has lesser known works that are still ...
