The piazza is a town square where alot of merchant stalls are surrounded by cafes and restaurants. It's more fun at night when artists gather to draw portraits and caricatures. However, this is not one of the great attractions of Rome in a historical sense. It's fun to visit but not as interesting as alot of more significant places.

cant wait tio go again

I loved all the sites and the museums were great we stayed at the piazza Navona we ate dinner at("Rosa Rosea") the food was fantastic.
No matter how many times I visit Rome, this is by far the most amazing place I have been to. It is exceptionally nice early in the morning eating a cornetto while sipping your cafe. At night the Piazza comes alive and there are gelato shops and pizzeria's close to the piazza. Also, it is in the center of Rome so it's easy to reach by bus and taxi. Nice to take a walk around the piazza on a sunday morning

Fountains, fountains everywhere
By Doc T, 02/24/06
The Piazza Navona has it all. A fantastic church, grand fountains, and a wide variety of eating places with a range of Roman food to choose from. Shopping and just relaxing is the order of the day. The place comes alive at night. I can't wait to go back.

Quintessential Navona

My first visit to Piazza Navona was quite a moment for me, I realized that it's a crossroads of the world. A guy from Holland was playing a guitar and an international crowd was hanging around singing pop songs in english. Lots of local romans hang around - and Paul Paolicelli points out that Rome may have it over Paris because of this place. ...

Entertaining
By Kathy D, 04/15/07
As so many places in Rome, typical old world charm and fountains. Only place in Rome that furnished ice for my "coke lite" (7 Euros) People watching , it was great. Policia chasing off peddlers like a game of hide and seek. Same ones over and over with their goods in sheets or boxes running across the Piazza. I found the reasturants a little pricy. But I loved the whole experience.

Italian home cooking
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/10/06
Best food in Rome Navona Notte! Italian home cooking. Not fancy. Try Bruschetta della creme di carciofi! Any pizza, veal or seafood great. Really great salads.
Several British & American style pubs act as sports bars for foreign students showing European & American football. If you need to have the scores stop in. Upcomming games posted outside the doors.
Outdoor market fairly tacky.

If you want to fully experience this beautiful hot spot the best time is at night. this is when the Piazza Navona comes to life with the italian locals, the lights of the fountains and your favorite gellato at hand.

There are a lot of stalls, where you can buy stuff. It's really alive, and they have the greatest ice of all Rome!

Essential Roman Historical Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 02/17/08
This is a very popular tourist area. Restaurants line the perimeter, and the center of the square houses the famous "4 Rivers" Fountain by Bernini, which everyone must see while in Rome. The atmosphere is so stereotypically Italian, it is a great place to walk around and soak in all the history around you.
