We went to the Castel Sant'Angelo for the view over Rome and night and it was great. The added bonus was that the Castel, which is a museum by day, has events in the evening that turn it into a festival. We hit it during one of these summer festivals and we lucked out. It costs, but it was worth it. There was live music, a restaurant set up and the view from the top at night was magical.

This place is so neat.

After reading about Castel Sant' Angelo I knew I hada to visit. To think was built as a mausoleum for Hadrian is humbling. It is now owned by the Church and has been a residence of Popes. The walk up the curved hallway is as easy climb. At the top you can see all of Rome spread out before you. It is breath-taking and beautiful. Besides, it is fun to say, "I've been there," when it is on TV.

A must see in Rome
By M K, 01/11/06
On my first visit to Rome, this wasn't on my list of places to go, but I happened into it on a walk to the Vatican. The history, the grandeur...it's incredible. And you must go to the very top for 360 degree views of the city. I've been to Rome 8 times since the first and it is one of the few consistent items on my itinerary.

Every time I'll be in Rome, I'll be there
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/03/05
I visited Sant'Angelo Castle for 3 times, the same number of times I've been in Rome. This remarcable Castle stills a mistery for me due to the mix of cultures and times from history that it represents. If you visit Sant'Angelo you will be inside the castle during more than 2 ou 3 hours in a complete time travel across Roman a Catholic history guessing the way that people lived a thought during those periods.
