Great place to people watch, nice shopping (High Scale) and good resteraunts. Great place to kick off an evening stroll. Nicest time of the year to visit is in the spring, when the flowers are out, nice place to get a cool drink in the fountain.Don't miss a quick trip to the top of the stairs for great views, and the church.
This was amazing and i love the fountain out the from, but the only thing was that when we were there it was under construction, so we couldn't see the tower out the front. They just put a picture of it in front!
I loved seeing the fountain at the bottom of the stairs created by Bernini. If you like to people watch, this is the place. Lots of panhandlers there though, so be careful. The church at the top of the stairs is beautiful and worth seeing. The view of Rome at the top of ths stairs is really nice.

Terrible, overpriced bad room and awful manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
Room was awful compared to the price. The dark haired woman on the door, the manager, was rude beyond belief. Ringing up late in the night disturbing my and my girlfriends sleep.
They didn't notify me when my lost luggage arrived for two days and so went home without it.
This is a wonderful place to see early in the morning. My 10 yr old daughter and I spent a little time at the base of the steps. There were alot of younger people there (went in March 2007). But it is well worth the time to sit and watch people from all over the world come together. The week after we left, some people tried to carve their names ...
If you enjoy people watching or just sitting to take in Rome, this is the place to be. Oh and when the steps are lined with flowers, Mamma Mia.

Grab some gelato and sit on one of the steps in the Spanish steps. Enjoy the view, people watch, learn about the history. Shopping is also around the corner, but bring a lot of cash!
Climbing down the Spanish Steps was brilliant. As we turned and looked back up, the sun was setting and the people were out on the Steps. It was like a dream. We saw fashions walking around that didn't make it to San Francisco for two years. We saw great art galleries, we just sauntered around for three or four hours, and then, we stopped ...
This is probably my favorite section of all of Rome. Not really because of the Spanish Steps but becuase of everyting else around there. There is fantasctic shopping and dining there plus the atmosphere is incredible. The Steps are especially beautiful in the springtime. Also, the Trevi fountain is only a few minutes away and there's a ...
