  • Hmmm
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/09
The restaraunt was packed, we we hurried and like everyone else put on a table that was too small (I guess so we didn't linger). Lots of people there with Guide Books. The pizza was good, but I've had better in Brighton (UK)

  • Best Crust!

The dough is the tastiest I've ever had anywhere. Toppings were good, but the dough is like crack. Great experience! The Amatriciana pizza was just fabulous! Also in a great neighborhood. Go!

  • Third trip to Rome, best Pizza yet.
    By Chris P, 04/15/08
I went to Rome in Feb for the 3rd time and I consider myself pretty well informed on Rome itself. Anyway, of course the food is amazing in almost any part of Rome, but Dar Poeta blew me away. We had been just walking around looking for a place to eat and met some locals who suggested that we check out this place. I don't know if I had a ...

  • Not what we'd hoped
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/07
We have just returned from Rome after a 4 day break and loved the city. We ate out all the time and tried many restaurants recommended in our guide book. This restaurant is also recommended by Pizza Express in their guide to Rome so thought for our last night we would visit.
We arrived quite early as we'd read there are usually queues and we ...

  • Eat pizza just like a local
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/07
I read the other (positive) reviews on this site and thought I would give it a go. There is no english translation on the menu, no menu out the front of the restaurant at this genuine pizza (no pasta) restaurant which is packed with locals. Get in before 8pm as they are lining up outside from 8.30pm and there were 20-30 people waiting when we left. ...

  • Not as good as hyped
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/07
Sorry everyone, after reading the reviews, my wife and I couldn't wait to get to Dar Poeta. The antipasto came right away, but we waited forever for the pizza, and it was frankly no better than other pizzas we had in Italy.

  • Best Restaurant I have EVER been to...
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/07
I think the title pretty much says it all. I studied in Rome for a semester and our program took us to Dar Poeta for the first big dinner. It was fantastic! Their pizza is the traditional very thin Roman pizza with extremely fresh ingrediants. Make sure to have the Calzone Dolce for dessert (it is enough for a few people to share). It is ...

  • Fantastic!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/07
Lived in Rome for a month and visited this place every week!

Don't be alarmed by the alleyway.. the food is great.
We went to the restaurant at 7pm and found no one around and it was actually quite scary. Turns out we arrived before it had opened.

By 9pm, there was a line 20 deep just to get in.

Quite crowded but great food for great ...

  • Not Authentic
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/05
Dar Poeta is increasingly becoming a chic restaurant for foreigners, and the pizza they serve is becoming stranger and stranger (i.e. not Italian). If you want a real, tasty and authentic pizza, try something in Testaccio and leave this place to the tourists.
