I studied abroad in Florence and lived right around the corner from Piazza Santo Spirito. As a student, you are always looking for the best deal and La Casalinga was awesome. The food is homemade as this is a family run restaurant. The vibe is busy but not annoying. I highly recommend this trattoria, it was a great value with great food, oh yea and cheap wine! Buon Appetito!

every year when i return to florence this is one of the best restaurants in the santo spirito area. best to make reservations because it gets crowded after 7:30pm. the food, service, etc.is great.
We've been eating at Casalinga since student days in the 1970's - it is the first & most authentic place I take visitors to Florence. NO TOURISTS!! (except me)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/06
no tourists but hard to find and like most authentic Italian restaurants, they don't open until 7:30 or so. Everything was unbelievable. The tuscan bread, the white beans, the pesto, the tomato sauce, on and on.

A cheap way to end your day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
My brother and I stumbled upon this place several years ago, and when I went back to live in Florence it was a on the top of my list of restaraunts. The food is fantastically cheap for a city like florence, and the fare is truly Florentine. It does not have a romantinc atmosphere, nor a lavishly decorated ambiance, but what you it lacks in pomp ...
