It is a really beautiful place, if you like medieval architecture I definitely recommend you to visit this place. I disagree with the others, it wasn't overcrowded (19.01.2009) at all. Here you can take a virtual tour of the Bastion: http://3dtour.eu/budapest/index_EN.php?panoid=F94E822F-B1B4-43F0-9D80-6A5CDE7209EA Greetings, Mary

I loved the Fisherman's Bastion EXCEPT for the mass crowd that is always there. It offers a wonderful view of the city and is an awesome place to take pictures of and from. One of my favorite attractions that we visited.
THIS WAS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES TO GO AT NIGHT. ALSO IT WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OUR HOTEL SO WE ENJOYED ITS LIGHT SHOE EVERY NIGHT. UNTILE MIDNIGHT ATLEAST AFTER THAT THEY TURN OF ALL THE LIGHT ON THAT SIDE OF THE RIVER!
Whatever you do NOT miss this!! It is such a great place to see. And the view is somethig else. I had read not to waste your time to see this but YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!
It is an unbelievable place... I was there by night and I'm sure it coulnd't look better by day. Everything seems taken right out of a story. A very romantic place to just walk around with your loved one. The view over the Danube was also beautiful - all kinds of light were reflected on the river surface. You just have to see it by night. You won't regret it.
The castle district eventually leads here, which will give you some great views, probably second to Gellert Hill. You can pay a little extra to go to the top level, although I think I went late at night once and the whole thing was open. It's in close proximity to the Matyas church as well, so why wouldn't you go here?
Fisherman's Bastion is basically an old fortress perched on Castle Hill on the Buda side of the Danube. Its arched windows frame what is possibly the best view of the river and Pest that Budapest has to offer. On the downside, the place is rather touristy, but it's worth a stop for photos if you're up on the hill to see the Royal Palace and Matthias temple. After all, it's free--and what a view...
Do not miss this! I would choose Budapest over Vienna anyday - and can not wait to go back!Walking throughout this entire area is a pleasure. Bring your camera and plenty of film! The transportation is very easily done, and don't forget to stop at the local cafe and watch the world go by!! Great for families or a lovely romantic getaway!!
