we had to climb 12 flights of steps in circular stairway to get to the Balcony seats at the top. As the seats were very cheap (about £8), the effort was worth it. The Opera House is very elegant, but seats were very cramped at the back, and view not that good. However production of La Boheme was excellent, especially the orchestra. usual crush ...
I am Andrea from Budapest. This pictures shows not the Opera House of Budapest. I show you the real Opera House of Budapest at Andrassy ut (Andrassy Ave). The building at Deak ter (Deak Place)is a bank. There are lot of old and nice building in Budapest like a opera house.

We live there every year for 2 monthe. A big reason because of the opera n opereta. They are sensational and a real bargain for American tourists n opera lovers. You think you are goin g back in time. People dress up and you really enjoy the ambiance.
The food is so good, but devastating to the diet. Most foods are fried and prepared w sour cream. Though delicious, I come home each year with a few extra pounds. THEY KNOW HOW TO COOK.

what operas are you presenting in the fall of 2005?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/05
I am visiting Budapest in September, 2005 and I am looking to find what Opera venues you have for that time period. I already know the history of the Opera House, where it is etc... However you do not give any information as to what is presented at what time of the year. Please let me know what if any Operas are presented during the first 2 weeks of September. Thank you. ibolya

Exellent opera house, but not during hot weather.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/04
Everything first rate, the opera house , the production, everything but the air conditioning. When the curtain went up I was in a suit, when it went down I was in my tee-shirt. They have air conditioning but it could not handle the 90 degree plus weather. The opera house is a classic and the presentaion ( a ballet ) was worthy of this beautiful edifice. I cannot help but wonder what the heating is like in Winter.
