Best palace in Europe. Friendly and knowledgible guides. A really beautiful place from the past. Best gardens so visit during the late summer or fall. Plan a full day seeing building and grounds. You won't be disappointed
The palace gardens are the most impressive aspect of the site. The ponds, fountains, and forest trails are very pleasant and worth a long visit which we were not able to take full advantage of. The palace interior is impressive but does not compare to the interiors of similar Russian palaces in Saint Petersburg. I would recommend to the Munich visitor that he make an effort to see the palace.
I have visited the castle twice now and I still experince new things when I get there. The garden is very beutiful arranged. It is worth the money to go here and just look at the exterior itself. Look up at the roof when you get inside! Just this entrancehall is wort all the money you spent to get inside.

I have no idea what people are saying that it wuz niuce cuz it wasn't. I just hated it soooo badly, I don't care whjat other people think!!!!!!!!
Take the time, make the time in your busy touring schedule to really see the gardens. Truly breathtaking! There are so many different parts to see. I don't think I have seen them all yet. I plan to return to finish the project. I have actually been there several times and always look forward to returning.

Nice but Not the Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/04
I enjoyed my visit here more the second time but Herrenchiemsee and Neuschwanstein were preferable to me.
This place was absolutely beautiful! The paintings on the ceilings blew me away! Be cautious when taking pictures though - no flash photography is allowed. Several people in my group were spoken to by officials when they didn't realize their flash on their camera was still on.
There is also a nature museum in a part of the castle that was very fascinating. It includes plants, rocks & minerals, animals, and the human body.
