The church is magnificent! There just aren't words to describe its beauty. Climbing up the church towers however was terrifing! The stairs were on a winding staircase big enough for only one person but there was traffic going BOTH WAYS on that staircase (and you know how those wineding staircase get narrow to the one side only big enough for ...
As I got out of the train station, I was mesmerized by the MAJESTIC architecture and stunning view of the Dom. I have traveled all over the world and never seen anything more spectacular. I stood in AWE for many minutes just appreciating the wonderful monstrosity of this building. Although, I did not get to climb the stairs or go inside, the outside spells SPEECHLESS. This is a must go place and highly recommended!!!
A must-see in Cologne! The church architecture is incredible, and inside and out is stunning. Just walk through if that's all you have time for - you will enjoy this place immensely. Mass is said periodically as well (although only in German, I believe).
The Koelner Dom is hands down my favorite cathedral in Europe. You really cannot believe your eyes when you see this structure, both the size of it, but at the same time the detail of the stonework as you walk around, for example the statue carvings over the doors, and generally all of the age, history and Gothic architecture of the Dom. It's ...
I was able to visit the Dome many times since my sister is living there in Cologne. With my 3 months of stay in Germany, one of my greatest experience is visiting the Dome & able to pray inside the cathedral. I am a devout Roman Catholic & I am so priviledged to see the historical Kolner Dom. Seeing all those wonderful architectural ...
We had to switch trains In Cologne and we had 7 minutes to find it. We got off the train and made it to the lobby area and all we could see was this huge cathedral and so we went out side and it was breathtaking. I'd go back just to see it again for 5 more minutes

Dom is like St. Patrick and Notre Dame
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
There is actually nothing that I disliked about the Dom itself. It was actually magnificent, even if I have been there twice. I place the Dom in the same league as the Notre Dame in Paris and Ho Chi Minh and the St. Patrick's in New York.
I love the shopping district in the nearby streets fronting the Dom.
The Dom's location is also very ideal since it is in the same area of the Koln international train terminal.
The Dom blew me away. It's one of the most beautiful man-made structures on the planet. Inside and out, you constantly find yourself just staring in rapture. The climb up the tower is well worth it for the exercise and the views. If you're anywhere near Köln, make a stop to see the Dom (and the rest of the city is wonderful too!)
