FascinatingThis was one of the most interesting places we visited. Without a sewer system, Paris would never have grown to the city it is now. Especially interesting is how the sewer system had to modernize to keep up with the growth of the city. A unique view of ParisI thought this was very interesting as it is not the sort of place people are normally allowed to go and therefore know little about what goes on under their feet.
I was surprised to see how large the tunnels were and how much work is required to keep the sewers working properly.

Sewers?Yup. After seeing all of the sites above ground, head beneath the city for a very unusual tour. The sights, sounds, and smells of the Musee des Egouts de Paris are quite unique. We did the tour based on a recommendation, and had a lot of fun. What was even better was the looks on the faces of friends and relatives when we told them we toured the Paris sewers.
