Leuven / Louvain is a charming small city not far from Brussels. It is a student city - the university is one of the oldest in the world. Beautiful old buildings, nice town squares with excellent cafés, pubs and restaurants. Vibrant night-life, a lot of interesting shops. Don't miss the "Beguinenhof", the oldest quarter in town with beautiful, well-preserved buildings from the Middle Ages - quite a world apart!

Leuven is really one of Belgium's hidden gems. It is a beautiful medieval student town. We saw the great market square and the old beguinage. There were lots of restaurants and prices were very reasonable. The place feels very young as you see a lot of students. Also it is the home town of "Stella" (the beer of course) which was a ...
