Mercado Central in downtown San Jose is a busy area located at Avenidas Central & 1 and between Calles 6 & 8. It is a good place to go to find such things as sandals, sunglasses, T-shirts, hats, etc.
Perhaps there is a slower time of day to visit this market, but in the 4 years I've been going there it is always crowded.
