we loved itit was our first day in our trip to thailand
and the litlle one just wanted to see animals.
so we took her there. it was great!!

Pity the poor orang utanThere is a lot of construction going on, obviously for further improvements. The pandas look happy, the tigers and panthers were great to observe but I was very disappointed with the orang utan enclosure and the poor animal looked bored out of its skull. Improvements are wonderfulI visited here the first time in June 2004 and it was pretty ordinary are far as zoo's go.
I re-visited in November 2006 and I must say there is a lot happening as far as improvements overall and think it is taking great shape.

Great timeMy son and I visited in April but it was VERY hot for us. The Zoo seemed to be built on the side of a mountain.

A Lovely Mountain ZooThis is not a high quality zoo that you find in Singapore. But, the mountain vistas are quite lovely.
Visiting the panda display was a life- long dream. I took endless photos of these evocative creatures.
The tuk tuk rides to and from Chiang Mai were great fun!
Do it on your own. You don't need a guide.

Spacious zoo on rolling hillsI always approach zoo's in developing countries with some trepidation, but this is a spacious zoo that sprawls over wooded hills on the edge of town. The interesting collection of animals is reasonably well exhibited. The new panda exhibit is a separate admission price.
