This is the kind of restaurant where the foul mood of the owner hangs like a dark cloud above staff and customers alike. Any request to the staff is discreetly ignored not to upset the chef/owner. When you have seen him lash out at his staff or patrons you'll understand why. It's not even comical, it's just a complete turn off. Thai ...

Best Italian Restaurant in Thailand! MUST TRY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/07
Certainly think Piccola is the best Italian restaurant in Thailand! Seriously!! Much better than any expensive Italian restaurants in Bangkok, Zanotti, Gianni..etc.. Piccola definitely a better value for money, price are much cheaper, but foods are much better. We love it so much so that we went back for dinner everyday during our stay in ...

Best Food & Service in Chiang Mai
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/06
Tell all of your friends they MUST dine at Piccola Roma!
The ambiance is romantic, the seafood and pasta are impeccable. The owner, Angelo, is a delighful Italian man who adds charactor to the experience by being a hands on classic Italian chef! Angelo is a dear and sweet person. He is also an expert at ordering correctly for the best fine dining experience in Chiang Mai. Just let him assist in ordering and you won't be dissapointed.
Wish I had read the previous posts before visiting this restaurant. Our experience was as bad, if not worse than others.

A very unpleasant experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/05
The food was OK, but certainly not nearly good enough to justify the very high prices. Did not like the owner. He critized my ordering of a soft drink and was, i thought, generally very rude. WOULD NOT GO BACK!

A Tragedy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/04
After eating fantastic Thai food for ten days, my new wife and I decided to have a break. On the recommendation of various travel guides we made our way to Piccola Roma Palace. Things looked good, and the menu was extensive. The proprietor jokingly berated me for not pulling out my wife's chair when we sat down, and then gave me a more serious ...

Mediocre at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/04
Having lived in Bangkok for 13 years and sampled its many and varied Italian eateries, I found Picola Roma a huge disappointment. I think they are tending to rest on their laurels a bit after Her Majesty's visit. When I went I found the food very stodgy and uninteresting. Also there is an overbearing proprietor who likes to sing his own praises.
