Arguably the most interesting temple in Thailand, featuring history, medical science, and a center for mediation and traditional massage, Wat Phrachetuphon Vimon Mangkararam Ratchaworamahawihan was founded during the 16th century and features a 46 meter gold, reclining Buddha whose feet are inlaid with mother-of pearl. Nice enough city with historical and cultural sights but the political situation is just too chaotic. I would give this country a miss for a couple of years.
This temple is amazingly beautiful. Its great to just wander around and look at everything, there are so many different things to look at. Also, the Reclining Buddha is very cool and much bigger than it looks in pictures. Definitely fun to pay the tiny price to go in and see the buddha.

We were on a whirlwind trip to bangkok from Jan 23 to 25. A visit to wat pho was not included in our tour of the city but armed with a map of bangkok and a guidebook we took a cab and visited this temple. It was well worth the trouble. You hear about the reclining Buddha but you have to see this in person to really appreciate it. It's massive! You will have a hard time getting a good camera angle to fit the whole thing. This was a definite highlight of the trip.
I liked the buddha, but there ware to much people selling, and to many visetors og it all was like a marked and not a temple, mayby i came there at the wrong day
