There was nothing in bloom late June, so it was a bit disappointing. There also weren't any lotus pads in the entire pond when I visited. It is free though so if you're in the area (the National Museum of History is next door) you could stroll through but in June I wouldn't recommend it as a destination.
The botanical gardens are great. In summer you can see the ponds full of lotus flowers (early morning hours are best for viewing) and many other flowers, trees, etc. in bloom. If you visit in winter, explore more of the hidden paths and green beauty. Check out the cactus plants or do some bird watching. Keep your eyes open, Taipei has many hidden treasures.

Nothing in bloom

The atmosphere could have been very nice but they have nothing in bloom and it is April. There is a large pond and walkways. It was a huge disappointment. The CKS memorial area had beautiful gardens so I would have expected flowers at the Botanical Garden - no such luck.

beautiful garden in the middle of the busy city. relaxing and tranquil. my opinion is a bit biased though since my grandparents frequently brought me here as a child.
