I think most of the reviewers are confused. Right inside Manila Cathedral or Minor Basilica of Mary is an exhibit telling the story of the cathedral. It is a new building having been started after WWII and finished in the 50's. Perhaps some of you are confusing this church with St Augustin's which is nearby. Now St. Augustin's is OLD, miraculously surviving earthquakes.
A real Filipino church..The must in Manila. Here we see history alive, filipino history of real and not sectarian christianity. Its not about money but about faith.
One of the oldest church here in Philipppines that the beauty remain preserves. The history of this church is what make it extraordinary. Best for wedding and other special church occasion. Would love to have my wedding here someday if givin the chance.

o m g --wish i could let all my friends visit the church----your country-- in my opinion---should be marketed more---the experience of driving in your cheepneys etc is unreal ----and your people are so nice [with exceptions of course as there is everywhere]

Be More Educated And Enlightened

I visited Manila Cathedral but I found the cathedral a boring place to visit perhaps its because my "trained" eyes are used to seeing massive, beautifully decorated and architecturally sound cathedrals in Europe. I have just been to Lourdes and visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes. Thousands of people from all over the world were ...

Tourists are essential for Manila Cathedral
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/07
Like Mr Erasmo Mallillin I too visited Manila Cathedral to look and take snapshots of the place as a souvenir for my visit but not exactly pray. Because we were tourists we were obviously wearing casual attires but not on shorts. In addition we cannot wear warm clothings as it was extremely hot in Manila that day and so we were wearing comfortables ...

Great but..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
its a nice place to visit and it is so historical..
but there are vendors around it. Jesus got angry in his times with vendors making the dwelling place of his father a market place. Our cathedral should be holy and no vendors should be allowed to sell in the cathedrals premise!

Embarrassment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
I enjoyed taking pictures of the Manila Cathedral from the outside and also some video recordings to show my colleagues here in London, England. However I was rather annoyed at the way a security guard manning the cathedral handled the tourists wanting to get a view inside the cathedral. He was really rude and disrespectful to the tourists who were ...
